Seeding a Church Plant in Racine

Working in cooperation with Harvest Community Church in Oak Creek, Wis., FiveStone Churches will oversee a church plant in Racine, Wis.

Justin James, pastor of discipleship at HCC, will work half-time at the church while also devoting half of his ministry to work with FiveStone to prepare the plant. He expects to move into the church planting work full-time in January.

Justin and and his wife, Laurie, were commissioned to the Racine work on Sunday, September 4. See a video of the commissioning here.

The new churchcalled Belle City Churchwill be independent and will have full partner status in the FiveStone Churches network. Servants from HCC will help in the earliest days of the work, and some may stay with Belle City Church after it emerges publicly. HCC also is providing financial support. FiveStone Churches is providing an array of church planting materials, shepherding leadership, teaching and partnering relationships.

Justin successfully completed FiveStone's church planter assessment, which looks extensively into a candidate's life and doctrine. The assessment explores nine categories: Relationship with the Lord; Doctrine and Ministry Compatibility; Spiritual Health; Relational Ability; Marriage and Family; Integrity, Decision-making and Finances; Execution of Vision and Philosophy of Ministry; Spiritual Gifts and Natural Talents; Knowledge of Church Planting and Church Growth.
